![]() All four of Just Water's managers were somehow connected to some of the great "British Invasion" bands.
Sid Bernstein, who managed Just Water in their final year, originally became famous as The Beatles promoter in the US, with his crowning achievements being the two Beatles concerts at Shea Stadium. Barbara Bothwell, who managed Just Water in the early days of the NYC Punk Rock scene, was fresh off of a job and a relationship with Ray Davies of The Kinks. Eric Dufoure, producer and part time manager, was a cousin of Chris Blackwell who owned Island Records. At that time Island Records had some classic British Invasion bands like Traffic, and was soon to sign a young Irish band U2. Ken Sanders, who managed and road-managed Just Water through most of their career, was a great fan of all bands British. In 1977 he hand delivered a copy of Just Waters "The Riff" to Pete Townshend at Pete's old house at 2 The Embankment in Twickenham. Pete was a supporter of the punk movement, and was so gracious about Ken's visit, that Ken wound up spending the next day with Pete's mom, Who bass player John Entwistle, and Pete's friend Speedy Keene from Thunderclap Newman. |
